What is 10DLC?
10 Digit Long Code, or 10DLC for short, is the requirement for SMS, which applies to all messaging to standard 10-digit phone numbers.
10DLC regulations were created as an extra measure to decrease unwanted, and in several cases non-compliant, SMS messages.
10DLC Updates
Important Update: All carriers have recently made announcements to increase the rates for any SMS sent that is not 10DLC registered. Starting June 30, it will be mandatory for all SMS campaigns to be registered with the carriers!
To ensure uninterrupted message delivery and avoid potential monetary penalties, we strongly recommend registering your campaign if you haven’t done so already. Failure to register by June 30, 2023, could result in message delivery issues and fines.
Please take prompt action to register your campaigns and stay compliant with the new requirements.
Benefits of 10DLC
Improved Deliverability
Registering your campaign ensures that your messages are recognized as legitimate by carriers and are less likely to be flagged as spam or blocked. This leads to higher deliverability rates and ensures that your messages reach your intended recipients.
Enhanced Trust and Reputation
By registering your campaign, you establish a verified and trusted identity with the carriers. This helps build credibility and enhances your reputation as a legitimate sender, increasing the likelihood of your messages being read and engaged with by recipients.
Compliance with Regulations
Mobile network operators have specific regulations in place regarding SMS marketing and communications. Registering your campaign ensures compliance with these regulations, protecting your business from potential legal and financial consequences.
Mitigation of Penalties and Risks
Carriers often impose penalties for non-compliant messaging activities, such as sending unsolicited messages or using unregistered numbers. By registering your campaign, you reduce the risk of incurring such penalties, which can include fines, message delivery restrictions, or even the suspension of your messaging services.
Access to Additional Features and Services
Registering your campaign may provide access to additional features and services offered by carriers. This can include increased throughput for message sending and priority message routing, enabling you to optimize your messaging campaigns.
Long-Term Stability and Reliability
Registering your campaign demonstrates your commitment to responsible messaging practices and establishes a long-term relationship with the carriers. This can result in greater stability and reliability for your messaging services, ensuring ongoing successful communication with your audience.
By registering your campaign, you not only comply with regulations but also gain advantages in terms of deliverability, trust, and compliance.

- Is there a common reason why a campaign is rejected?
Most campaigns get rejected due to the following reasons:
- Prohibited Campaigns – Debt Settlement and/or Relief, Credit Repair, S.H.A.F.T use-cases, Loan Ads, are some of the campaigns that are prohibited.
- Lack of TCPA language/Opt-in message on the website – The TCPA mandates that businesses must clearly and conspicuously indicate what consumers are opting in to when they provide their contact information through a website form. In other words, if a website collects personal information such as phone numbers or email addresses, and intends to use that information for marketing purposes, it must inform users about this intention and obtain their explicit consent.
- Lead Gen/Affiliate Marketing – The carriers have consistently rejected campaigns where it’s obvious that more than one company or a different company they opted in will call the lead. Lead generation and affiliate marketing campaigns are prohibited.
In conclusion, understanding and complying with 10DLC regulations are crucial for businesses engaging in SMS. By registering your campaign and adhering to the new requirements, you can reap several benefits.
