What is 10DLC?
10 Digit Long Code, or 10DLC for short, is the requirement for SMS, which applies to all messaging to standard 10-digit phone numbers.
10DLC regulations were created as an extra measure to decrease unwanted, and in several cases non-compliant, SMS messages.
10DLC Updates
Important Update: All carriers have recently made announcements to increase the rates for any SMS sent that is not 10DLC registered. Starting June 30, it will be mandatory for all SMS campaigns to be registered with the carriers!
To ensure uninterrupted message delivery and avoid potential monetary penalties, we strongly recommend registering your campaign if you haven’t done so already. Failure to register by June 30, 2023, could result in message delivery issues and fines.
Please take prompt action to register your campaigns and stay compliant with the new requirements.

- Is there a common reason why a campaign is rejected?
Most campaigns get rejected due to the following reasons:
- Prohibited Campaigns – Debt Settlement and/or Relief, Credit Repair, S.H.A.F.T use-cases, Loan Ads, are some of the campaigns that are prohibited.
- Lack of TCPA language/Opt-in message on the website – The TCPA mandates that businesses must clearly and conspicuously indicate what consumers are opting in to when they provide their contact information through a website form. In other words, if a website collects personal information such as phone numbers or email addresses, and intends to use that information for marketing purposes, it must inform users about this intention and obtain their explicit consent.
- Lead Gen/Affiliate Marketing – The carriers have consistently rejected campaigns where it’s obvious that more than one company or a different company they opted in will call the lead. Lead generation and affiliate marketing campaigns are prohibited.
In conclusion, understanding and complying with 10DLC regulations are crucial for businesses engaging in SMS. By registering your campaign and adhering to the new requirements, you can reap several benefits.
